International Mountainboard Film Festival
ATBJunkies’ International Mountainboard Film Festival is an annual event that takes place in October, presenting a unique programme of feature films, shorts and special events that promote mountainboarding through film. We work closely with the mountainboard community and are dedicated to all filmmakers regardless of skill level, we also actively encouraging the younger generation to express their passion and feelings, though media about the sport they love.
Each year we see ground breaking films from gifted filmmakers taking on the technical challenges of filming one of the most heart pumping adrenaline action sports right here in the UK. As riders discover new location to rider, filmmakers are documenting the impossible and telling their story as it happens.The International Mountainboard Film Festival is one of the best social events of the Mountainboard calendar and is great place to meet up with old friends and meet new ones. With a great mix of activities throughout the day you won’t be short on thing to do, before it all kicks off in the evening.
This year they’re back with more eye popping films and mountainboard action than you can cope with. This is your chance to sit back and discover the best films and see it all on a massive open air screen, with roaring fires and mountainboard gossip.This is one event you cannot afford to miss out on. -
FILM COMPETITION BRIEF
Welcome to this years film festival competition.
This year we are mixing things up a bit with 4 new categories for which prizes are going to be awarded. There are no categories that you need to pick and enter, all films will be judged together and the judges will decide which film wins each prizes. This year there are no runner up prizes. So, you’ll need to go big on your film to be the best of the best.
These are:What do I Do Next: So you want to win the accolade of “Best Mountain Board Film”. You will need to study what makes a good extreme sports film and what our judges are looking for.- Best Mountain Board Film

Judging & Rules
Each year we pick 6 secret judges that are scattered around the audiance. These judges secretly score your films and report back to us. Judges will be looking for:
- Execution and interpretation of brief.
- Creativity and technical achievement.
- Composition of shots.
- Narrative & Story.
Official Regulations
Please ensure your film complies with our rules for the film festival.- Films must have a clear story or narrative.
- Maximum length of your entry is 10 minutes of film time.
- Submissions can be delivered on PC compatible USB Stick, SD-Card, DVD or BluRay.
- All films must have a signed entry form.
- ALL entries must NOT have been broadcast on the internet or released on DVD in part, or in full. This includes any trailiers before its first public showing at the film festival. Broadcasting will mean any form of public viewing, i.e. You tube, etc. Public viewing is seen as gaining an unfair advantage by promoting your film.
- Accreditation of the festival i.e. “Made for ATBJunkies’ International Mountainboard Film Festival” to be included in the end credits.
- You are not permitted to included any swear words (must be bleeped), sexual acts (including mimicking), suffering or character abuse, bullying, etc.
- All entries must be in English or have English subtitles.
- No blatant branding, product placement, logos or promoting of manufacturing company’s new products.
- Films must be shot or edited in the 12 months leading up the festival.
- No more than 60 seconds of old/pre-recorded footage can be used.
- NO Copyrighted material to be used unless you have written proof.
- NO OVER THE TOP SHAKY CAM. Wobbly camera work on a big screen could make people sick.
- All films must reach us by the closing deadline.

Technical Specs
We have made all the necessary changes to our equipment so now we can accept films right up to the deadline, which is 4pm on the day of the film festival. Each film must be presented with a fully completed entry form.
This year our prefer file format is DivX or MKV format. The DivX file format offer garenteed playback of your film without and problems. The encoder is one of the simplest to use and offers excellent results and is available for both PC & MAC.
You can deliver your film on USB Stick, SD Card, DVD disc, BluRay disc or a self powered USB Hard drive. All delivery devices should be PC formated to FAT32 to ensure compatibility with media playback devices. This includes portable hard drives.
APPROVED FILE FORMATS FOR PLAYBACK:
These file formats offer the best results for large screen playback at our film festival. You can get a free 15day trial by visiting the DivX website www.divx.comSorry we can-not accept .mov files as we can not guarantee playback of this file format. We do not have time to convert any files on the day it takes just too long. Please convert to one of the approved formats above.- MKV

We can accept 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios in Standard Definition and High Definition 720 & 1080, PAL or NTSC.
IMPORTANT TO KNOW: Your encoded file must not exceed a data rate of 24Mbps to ensure smooth playback. This data rate is the maximum rate of Bluray. We had one film last year that crashed the system during the film fest due to an un-acceptable data rate. We will refused to play any film that does not meet our technical standards. -
Deadline For Films
4pm Saturday 5th October 2013
Film Festival is held at BUGS BOARDING Please ensure your film is encoded correctly to our technical requirements. We would prefer you to use the official DivX encoder, either .MKV or DivX encoded files will ensure smooth playback on our equipment. All films must be submitted to ATBJunkies by 4pm on Saturday for the main competition. Films must be presented on USB or SD-Card. Any questions just contact me. -

ATBJunkies is a small indie-film production company that specialises in producing professional looking mountainboard films in the UK.
Mountain boarding or ATB (All Terrain Board) is one of the UKs fastest growing sports. Not only that the UK has some of the best riders in the world. Our aim is to promote the sport thought film; by encouraging young filmmakers to make short films about mountainboarding and the different disciplines within the sport.
Since 2006, ATBJunkies has gone from strength to strength with our mini films; And in 2009 we introduced the International Mountainboard Film Festival, with the aim of bringing together riders and filmmakers from around the world, for a weekend long event of film premiers showing the latest Mountainboard films created by the riders themselves; to date with have shown films from Russia, USA, Japan, Italy, UK, Portugal and France. We are constantly amazed by the passion people have to promote the sport and ideas they develop to filming the impossible. -
